SAND is currently open for submissions of poetry, short fiction, flash fiction, translations, and visual art until January 5th, 2020. We are eclectic and look for submissions that push the boundaries of form, language, message, and voice in fresh and unpredictable ways. Work that is haunting for its soul, edge, truth. We are all about work that subverts, whether subtly or overtly. Fresh can be slow, sensitive can be rough, bold can be quiet.

SAND is made by a diverse international team in Berlin, and we welcome writers and artists from a range of perspectives to submit, including those who are women, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, people of color, working class, and/or geographically underrepresented.

We will never charge you a fee to submit (though we welcome donations, which help keep us weird). As a nonprofit, all-volunteer team, we are currently working very hard to pay our contributors. For the moment we offer a free copy of SAND and faithful promotion of your writing/art for as long as we both shall live.

We look forward to reading your best work in the submissions pile! Please submit here: http://sandjournal.com/submit-your-work/.
