The Made in L.A. indie author co-op is a Los Angeles-based group of writers dedicated to the support and appreciation of independent authors. We are currently accepting submissions of short fiction (generally under 10k words), of any sub-genre, that prominently feature L.A. settings for volume two of our annual fiction anthology, to be published by Resonant Earth Publishing on behalf of Made in L.A. writers.

We publish work by new, emerging, and established writers, including those who have been underrepresented or historically misrepresented, with a preference for writers who currently live in and around Los Angeles. Previously published and unpublished fiction will both be considered. Submissions are free.

Deadline: September 22, 2018.

Details:

  • All submissions must be double-spaced in 12-pt Times New Roman font in a MS-Word, RTF, or PDF document with one-inch margins.
  • Please include a word count, your name, and your email address at the top of your piece.
  • Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of three Made in L.A. writers.
  • Authors will receive acceptance notices by October 31, 2018.

If accepted for publication, Resonant Earth Publishing, working on behalf of Made in L.A. writers, retains non-exclusive global print and digital rights to publish, produce, reproduce, distribute, and market stories perpetually in this format (i.e. the rights to publish your story in this specific anthology and no others). Authors whose works are accepted will receive five free print copies and unlimited copies at cost (print + shipping). In addition, authors will be invited to participate in Made in L.A. writers-organized events, such as readings, book fairs, and publicity campaigns.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to view your work.

To submit: email your manuscript to madeinlawriters@gmail.com with SUBMISSION in the subject line.
