In honor of longtime member Jane Hoppen, Paragraph: Workspace for Writers is offering a six month residency to an emerging writer who represents the LGBTQ+ community. The residency provides full-time (24 hour) access to both our Union Square and Williamsburg locations from September 2019 through March 2020.

Jane Hoppen wrote every morning at Paragraph without fail and was a fixture in our community. For many years, she helped shape the space with her passion and kindness. We believe she would have wanted to support emerging writers by providing them with a safe and comforting place to write. We are looking for writers who exemplify Jane’s values in order to honor her life, work, and contribution to our community.

We are now open for applications through our website. Application deadline is July 19.  In addition to the winner, a select number of finalists will be awarded a free month at either of our locations.

Founded in 2005, Paragraph is a membership organization dedicated to providing an affordable and tranquil working environment for writers of all genres. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Paragraph was created by writers for writers, with an understanding that writers work best in a quiet, comfortable space away from the hurry and obligation of daily life.
