“You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should have behaved better.”– Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life, Anne Lamott First Chapter Memoir Contest

What’s in the first chapter of your memoir?
Is it poignant, amusing, absurd, painful, uplifting?
We’re sure it’s uniquely yours, and we would like to read it.
For Arch Street Press’s second writing competition of 2019, we’re seeking that first chapter of your memoir.
We’ll select three finalists, award each $100 and publish them in an upcoming edition of our literary journal, Meet Me @ 19th Street.
All entries must be submitted online by midnight, June 10, 2019
via Submittable or our website.
The entry fee is $10.00. For contest rules, please visit our website
