Fruit is a new online journal, publishing queer authors with an emphasis on unheard voices. ‘Queer authors’ are LGBTQI+. ‘Unheard voices’ means writing for which there are few platforms. This includes work by minority-identifying authors within the LGBTQI+ community, such as people of colour, trans* and working class writers. It also means emerging authors and experimental writing. Fruit is bi-annual. The first issue will appear in January 2020.

We accept short fiction, non-fiction and poetry. We’re looking for different perspectives and formal innovation: tell us something we might not know, tell us in a way we haven’t heard it before. There are no restrictions on content but since this is an inclusive space, we reject prejudiced views.

Although our cupboards are pretty bare, we want to recognise your labour. Therefore, all donations made to Fruit (when it’s up and running online) will be divided equally among contributors. We’re looking forward to reading your work!

Current submission window: 1st July – 31st August 2019.
