Throughout this dark and difficult year politically, Lambda Literary has remained a source of light amplifying our community’s literature, authors, and stories. Despite the challenges we face, we are ending 2017 stronger than when we started because of your ongoing belief in our mission.

To that end, author Chuck Forester has taken up the call to support Lambda by pledging $25,000 and asking you to match his contribution. That means your donation of $25, $100, $250 or more will double its impact through December 31st.

We’re proud to share 2017’s significant accomplishments made possible because of your dedicated support:

  • The LGBTQ Writers in Schools Program enters its third year of an historic partnership with the New York City Department of Education to bring LGBTQ literature to over 2400 students in K-12 classrooms.
  • The Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices convened another successful residency nurturing our most promising up-and-coming writers with workshop faculty that included Garth Greenwell, Diana Cage, TC Tolbert, Phillip Howze, and Malinda Lo.
  • The first annual Lambda LitFest Los Angeles was a smashing success and featured 30 queer literary events, 30 community partners, over 100 participating authors, and over 1600 attendees. Next year’s LitFest is planned for fall 2018!
  • The 29th Annual Lambda Literary Awards honored the best LGBTQ literature in 24 categories and also presented awards to ground-breaking artists Jeanette Winterson and Jacqueline Woodson.
  • Lambda Literary partnered with respected literary organizations such as PEN, Asian American Writers Workshop, the City of West Hollywood, Poetry Coalition, Tethered by Letters, and LitNet, and collaborated on events and programming with CantoMundo, Urban Word, the National Book Critics Circle, Hormel Center of the SF Public Library, Museum of the City of New York, Empire State Center for the Book, among many others.
  • The Lambda Literary Review published over 200 book reviews and featured in-depth author interviews with leading writers such as Carmen Maria Machado, Eileen Myles, Roxane Gay, Benjamin Alire Saenze, Ed Luce, and Alex Gino.
  • We received over 950 book submissions (a record) for consideration of the 30th Annual Lambda Literary Awards to be held June 4, 2018 in New York.

Please support Lambda Literary with a year-end tax-deductible donation by December 31st and see your donation DOUBLED!
