A Crucial Time to Support LGBTQ Writers
Nearly 50 years after Stonewall, it’s impossible not to see how far we have come as a LGBTQ community and how much work remains. Fortunately for us, our writers provide a testament to our reality and have the ability to reimagine it. Help us cultivate the LGBTQ creativity we need to build a brighter future. Whether you can afford to give $10, $100, or $1,000, your tax deductible contribution will make a real impact on the lives of LGBTQ readers and writers.
Honoring Queer Excellence For Years To Come
No other literary celebration brings as much visibility and glamour to LGBTQ literature than the annual Lambda Literary Awards. Since 1989, Lambda Literary has honored hundreds of LGBTQ authors, making sure they get the accolades they deserve. We simply could not support these amazing authors without your generosity.
Bringing LGBTQ Books into Classrooms
This year, we doubled the size of our LGBTQ Writers in Schools program, bringing more queer books and their authors into classrooms than ever before. Now reaching nearly 2,000 students, this program provides a supportive space for youth to talk about books, queer life, and how to thrive as a LGBTQ person. By giving as little as $10 right now, you can ensure that students participating in this program will get a free copy of an LGBTQ book.
Propelling the Next Generation of Queer Writers
Each summer, Lambda Literary offers the Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices, the only residency in the world exclusively for up-and-coming queer writers. The retreat provides a crucial opportunity for queer writers who want to take their writing to the next level. In 2019, our Lambda Fellows will study with Danez Smith, Tim Murphy, Linda Villarosa, Benjamin Sáenz, and Mfoniso Udofia. By giving $100 today, you can help provide scholarships to writers attending this retreat.
Fostering Creative Communities
Lambda Literary offers a range of public programming across the year including our annual Lambda LitFest, which brings 1,500 LGBTQ writers and readers together for a week of performances and discussion. Through programs like this, as well as the Lambda Literary Review, where we cover hundreds of LGBTQ books a year, we are able to promote and amplify queer ideas and creativity. By giving $250 today you can help us continue to provide opportunities where writers can come together in constructive exchange.
