Author Bret Easton Ellis started podcasting this week and his first guest was cultural gadfly/pop-star Kanye West.

Controversial best-selling author and screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis delivers a weekly glimpse into one of popular culture’s most fascinating minds. The entertainment industry’s top writers, directors, actors and musicians will join Bret to discuss the issues and complexities that keep the creative world turning as we experience this intriguing period in our planet’s history. In honor of the popular Showtime series Masters of  Sex (about the early pioneers working in the science of human sexuality), the folks at Autostraddle have listed nine not-so “classic books about lesbian sex by men pretending to be doctors.” The list is both hilarious and dispiriting. [Autostraddle]

Arch and Bruce Brown Foundation announced the results of their 2013 playwriting competition this week.

From 1996 on, the foundation has sponsored yearly literary competitions, awarding prizes for plays and fiction dealing with LGBT history or placing lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender characters in historical settings.

Over the years, dozens of theater companies and other arts organizations have also benefited from the foundation’s production grants
