October brings with it a great selection of new LGBTQ books!

Little, Brown and Company is publishing the long-awaited new book from bestselling author Emma Donoghue. Astray is a novel that offers a series of finely detailed portraits of a cavalcade of nomadic characters.

From the publisher,

The fascinating characters that roam across the pages of Emma Donoghue’s stories have all gone astray: they are emigrants, runaways, drifters, lovers old and new. They are gold miners and counterfeiters, attorneys and slaves. They cross other borders too: those of race, law, sex, and sanity. They travel for love or money, incognito or under duress.

With rich historical detail, the celebrated author of Room takes us from puritan Massachusetts to revolutionary New Jersey, antebellum Louisiana to the Toronto highway, lighting up four centuries of wanderings that have profound echoes in the present. Astray offers us a surprising and moving history for restless times.

Topside Press is releasing The Collection: Short Fiction from the Transgender Vanguard edited by Tom Léger and Riley MacLeod. Described as a “dynamic  composite of rising stars, The Collection represents the depth and range of tomorrow’s finest writers chronicling transgender narratives. 28 authors from North America converge in a single volume to showcase the future of trans literature and the next great movements in queer art.”  This much buzzed about anthology is looking like the must-have book of the fall.

Beth Ditto’s memoirCoals to Diamonds, is being released this October. Published by Spiegel & Grau, and co-written by the incomparable Michelle Tea, the memoir tells the story of Ditto, from her childhood growing up in rural Arkansas as a “sexually confused choir nerd with a great voice…eighties perm and Kool Aide dye job” to her time spent in Olympia, Washington during the late 1990′s punk scene, where the awesome soul/funk/disco/punk/gospel/rock band, Gossip, was formed.

If you are in the mood for love, October also has something for all you romance lovers. Bold Strokes Books is releasing new romance titles from Ali ValiL.T. Marie, and Andrea Bramhall.

Also this month expect new releases from novelist Trebor Healy, poet Peter Covino, author Ellen Hart, and a new edited collection from Raymond Luczak.
