The Boggsville Boatel and Boat-in Theater, named after the legendary Ms. Nancy Boggs, madam/owner of a floating riverboat brothel, will be the site of the next Lambda Literary Queer Lit Salon. Readers include Ellis Avery (The Teahouse Fire); Janine Avril (Nightlight: A Memoir); Anne Hays (editor of Storyscape Journal); and Rachel Simon (Theory of Orange). The reading/art installation/movie night/open swim starts at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday August 17 at Marina 59 in Far Rockaway. Chairs, snacks, and donations for the Boatel welcome.

The Boatel —  sold out for the season but open for the Queer Lit Salon — was created by artist and boat-builder Constance Hockaday. She has constructed a series of floating hotel rooms and a theater built in the Neutrino tradition — made from salvaged materials. The Marina 59 (59-14 Beach Channel Dr., Far Rockaway, NY, 11692) is located one block from the A Train and 2 blocks from the beach.
