Katselas Theatre Company is Accepting Submissions for its New Writers’ group ‘un-Author-ized’
Katselas Theatre Company (KTC) is accepting submissions for its new writers’ group un-Author-ized.
un-Author-ized is open to early and emerging writers ages 18-25. Under the guidance of instructor Boni B. Alvarez, KTC seeks to develop the next wave of exciting Los Angeles playwrights, thereby building the next generation of theatre audiences.
un-Author-ized centers around a fertile safe space in which young writers can unearth and unleash their artistic voices. Writers will be urged to write quickly and freely, getting their unique, cutting-edge stories out of their minds and onto the page. Each session will begin with various writing exercises, drawing inspiration from other art forms, current events, and of course from the writers’ own wells of personal experience.
During the 8-week program, participants will write a minimum of three short plays (10-30 minutes). The program culminates with a weekend-long festival of staged readings of un-Author-ized plays by professional actors on November 17th/18th.
Sessions begin October 6, 2012 thru November 17th, and are held weekly on Saturdays at the Beverly Hills Playhouse thru Nov 18th. The program is limited to 10 participants and costs $350.
