Iris | New Fiction is a new literary magazine that publishes short fiction and poetry on LGBTQ themes for young adults.

We invite submissions for Volume 1, Issue 1: Identity. Please submit your poetry and short fiction (under 2,000 words) through our submissions manager, accessible through irisnewfiction.org/submissions . We will accept submissions for the first issue through 1 November 2013.

We seek original writing that engages in some way with LGBTQ issues, whether through queer protagonists, straight allies, setting, etc. We aim to be a place to challenge and captivate young adult readers between the ages of 14 – 17. As we anticipate readers younger than our target demographic, we ask that all submissions to Iris be free of sex, violence, and drug use. For more information and to view our submission guidelines, please visit our website at irisnewfiction.org.

The formal call for submissions can be downloaded at irisnewfiction.org/call-for-papers .

We also welcome submission of short poetry and flash fiction (under 500 words) through our tumblr: irisnewfiction.tumblr.com/submit , for publication on our blog. Submissions for the blog are always open.
