Riptide Publishing, a boutique purveyor of some of the finest LGBTQ fiction, romance, and erotica available today, has open submission calls! Created by experienced M/M authors who were hungry for better editing and cover art and a more favorable publishing environment, Riptide Publishing seeks to fill a critical niche in the LGBTQ market: top-quality books, pristinely packaged, that satisfy readers’ desires for rich, plotty, well-edited stories they’ll want to read again and again.
Though Riptide is an invitation-only press, we do have special calls for submissions to themed collections. Our latest anthology call is:
Editor: Sarah Frantz
The Winter Holidays are times of love, joy, family togetherness, peace, and goodwill for all. They are also times of stress, strife, family feuds, pressure, and heartache. But most of all, they’re chock full of pervertibles: ornament hooks, candles, jingle bells, tape, candy canes, kinky gift giving, and more.
Riptide Publishing will be releasing a 2012 Kinky Holiday Anthology of short stories (5,000 to 10,000 words each). So send us your kinky holiday shorts!
Holidays include any end-of-year celebration: Christmas, Hannukah, Solstice, Epiphany, Kwanzaa, even Diwali and western or Chinese New Year.
Stories should be erotic with a significant kink component: D/s relationships, pervertible toys, holiday-themed kink activities. Don’t be afraid to push erotic boundaries, but please make the BDSM both psychologically and physically realistic, as well as completely safe, sane, and consensual.
Stories should be relationship-focused and have a happy ending for the main characters. The kink should be in service to an exploration of a stage in the life of a relationship and the ending should be overflowing with holiday cheer and schmoopiness.
This anthology will be packaged, marketed, and sold as a single product, though stories may be released individually, via limited distribution, roughly three months after the release of the anthology.
20% of the proceeds will be donated to the National Leather Association International Domestic Violence Project.
Length: 5,000 to 10,000 words

And we are pleased to announce our Lesbian Fiction Open Call!
Editor: Carole-ann Galloway
Lesbian fiction is coming to Riptide in 2013, and we’re looking for a selection of the very best F/F stories with which to launch our list!
We’ll leave the time and place up to you, but the focus of your story should be the romantic love between two women, whether it’s a developing affair or an established relationship.
Why not fill in the unwritten chapters of history and show us medieval maidens, Regency belles, Victorians, or wartime women seeking comfort in each other’s arms?
What does the future look like for women who love women? Are they out in space, living on other planets or colonies, human or otherwise? Or still on earth, enslaved or emancipated by new technology, governments, and events?
Or set your story in a world of your own creation, where myths come alive or the supernatural is standard fare. Send your heroines on quests and adventures to prove or discover their love.
Women who love women in fiction rarely get more than an ambivalent ending, so let’s change that. Whatever they have to go through to get there, make sure your characters get their happy ending.
Length: 10,000 to 100,000
Genres: Romance in the following subgenres: well-researched historicals, adventure, fantasy, PNM, magical realism, SF. Other genres may be considered, but please query first.
Heat Levels: Any
Ending: HEA or HFN
Submissions Due: Thursday, December 20, 2012
Acceptance Letters Sent By: 6 to 12 weeks after submission
