The American Poetry Journal (APJ) is open for poetry submissions from March 1 to April 30, 2017, reading for its June 2017 online issue. We publish work from writers around the globe no matter race, color, religion, national origin or citizenship status, ancestry, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, or disability.

Submission Guidelines: Please submit via our Submit page or email us at apjpoetry@gmail.comthree previously unpublished poems as a PDF attached file.  Do not include poet name or other poet info on the poems, file name, or in the email message. In the Subject line, please write “Poetry Submission for APJ.”  A bio is only needed upon acceptance.  There is no fee to submit.  Simultaneous submissions are fine; please notify us if any of your submission is accepted elsewhere.

If APJ accepts your work for publication, we will ask for first publication rights and permission to archive your work online.  All other rights revert to you post publication.  If your work is reprinted elsewhere, please acknowledge its first publication here.

If your work is not accepted, please submit again (everyone deserves a second chance); but please submit only twice during the open reading period.

APJ cannot pay its contributors, but with publication we include a bio with links to a poet’s website or other social media.  We will also nominate chosen poems each year for a Pushcart Prize and/or Best of the Net Anthology.
