Have you had a great mentor who helped you develop into the person you are now? For an essay collection provisionally titled Tales of Mentoring: The Relationship That Can Change Your Life, I seek essays that describe the pleasures and complexities of a mentoring relationship in academia, the arts, or in one’s personal or professional life.

I’m open to submissions from the perspective of the mentor as well as the person being mentored. The ideal essay will be written with the grace, character development, and narrative momentum of a good short story.

Note that this collection is not focused exclusively on LGBTQ mentoring, and submissions need not address sexual identity. However, I’m actively looking for essays that illuminate the significance of mentoring within the LGBTQ community.

Length: approx. 3,000 wds.
Deadlines: Abstract (200-300 wds.) by Feb. 28; completed essay by March 31.
Informal inquiries are welcome.
