Heiresses of Russ, the annual anthology series created in honor of the late, great Joanna Russ, is now taking recommendations and submissions for its 2013 edition. Steve Berman and Tenea D. Johnson will be co-editing. We welcome your introduction to stories we haven’t discovered. We’re looking for the best lesbian-themed speculative fiction first published in 2012.

Readers, authors, and publishers, please send us your recommendations and stories for consideration. Stories should be up to 10,000 words. There’s some flexibility for impressive work that runs longer. Science fiction, fantasy, horror, slipstream, steampunk, alternative history, interstitital, weird, and that as yet unnamed are all welcome.

Please submit stories with the prior publication information in a cover letter and the story following below in the body of the email, not as an attachment. The deadline for both story recommendations and submissions is February 24th, 2013.

The payment for these reprinted stories ranges from $25 -$100, based on length. Contributors will also receive a hardcover of the anthology. Recommendations and queries can be e-mailed to heiresses2013 (at) gmail (dot) com.
