Thanks to the support of our 2007 donors, the first annual Lambda Literary Foundation's Writers Retreat took place in Los Angeles, August 5 -12, 2007. For a solid week, 22 emerging LGBT writers underwent intensive workshops, craft lectures, and community building.

Here are a few comments from their evaluations:

“Although I am a writer, I find myself at a loss for words when it comes to expressing my gratitude to Lambda for this marvelous experience. I came to celebrate community and I have. I have also found a fellowship full of honesty, humor, and humanity – and for this I thank you tremendously.”

Komal/Forrest“I will never forget the people who helped me, and I will never forget you or Lambda. If you ever had a doubt that you have done something to change the world, don’t. Reader by reader, page by page.”

“I’ve been lucky enough to find in NYC my sense of community – but never have I found my heritage – as an artist/writer, and as a gay person. This week has allowed me to see just how rich and supportive Lambda is, how it can provide for us – a sense of ‘us.’ I am so humbled and so proud.”

The Writers Retreat is an ambitious program, and your support made it possible.
