Barbara Kahn recently received the 2011 Robert Chesley Foundation Award for LGBT playwriting in conjunction with the Wurlitzer Foundation Residency Grant for her short play “Winter Solstice: The Cat’s Meow”. Past winners include Paula Vogel and Victor Lodato.

Many of Kahn’s full-length plays are historical plays/musicals about the LGBT experience. The next will be “Burning Desires”, a musical drama about the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, produced by Theater for the New City in New York from March 10-April 3, 2011.
