Starting tonight at midnight, Rakesh Satyal author of Blue Boy, is making his Lambda Award winning novel available for free Kindle download all day October 6, 2010.

Satyal’s decision to give away his book for free is motivated by the 6 recent suicides of LGBT teens.

“I always tell people that I wrote the book that I needed as a kid but didn’t have, and in light of the recent tragic events involving young LGBT individuals across the country,” explains the author.

“I thought that the best thing I could do was make the book readily available to the readers who need it most.”

Like the stories pulled from recent headlines, Satyal’s main character is gay and is bullied. The whole point of the story,” explains Satyal “is that he turns his misfortune into something constructive and inspired.”

Such a shame only six people have shared this on Facebook today so far and none on Twitter. We should be getting word about this out and getting this book in people’s “hands.”
