Lambda Literary, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization advancing LGBTQ literature, seeks a tech savvy Administrative Assistant with meticulous attention to detail. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Los Angeles-based Administrative Assistant performs a wide variety of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of Lambda Literary’s day-to-day operations and programs. The Administrative Assistant will work from home and at the Lambda office. This is a part-time position,15-20 hours/week with occasional extended hours.


  1. Must be proficient in or have the facility to quickly learn Donor Management/CRM software, PayPal, WordPress, Constant Contact or other email software, Microsoft Suite software (Word, Mail Merge, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Google Docs/Sheets, Facebook event page setup, video editing software, among others.
  2. Processes all online and mailed donations and payments while keeping highly detailed and updated donor/vendor records.
  3. Processes all general e-mail, snail mail and invoices.
  4. Keeps Los Angeles office organized and stocked with supplies.
  5. In coordination with Awards Administrator, manages and keeps detailed records of all Lammy Award book shipments received; packs and ships books to panel judges.
  6. In coordination with Program Director, assists in managing/organizing Writers Retreat submissions, student fundraising pages and tuition payments.
  7. In coordination with Program Director, assists throughout the summer during the Writers Retreat residency including filming, editing and posting Fellows readings.
  8. Manages web and newsletter ad sales and postings.
  9. Performs other duties necessary for the benefit of Lambda Literary as assigned by the Executive Director.


  • High degree of independence, initiative, responsibility, and accountability
  • Well-developed oral, written and technology skills
  • The ability to work with a wide variety of individuals
  • Must be LA-based, have car, computer and be capable of lifting 20 lb. boxes


  • Three years experience working in nonprofit organizations or related industry.
  • Knowledgeable of LGBTQ literature, authors and publishing a plus but not required.
