Artist Chris Sprouse has thrown in the towel on illustrating anti-gay author Orson Scott Card’s upcoming Adventures of Superman issue. A petition urging DC Comics to drop the Ender’s Game author currently boasts almost 17,000 signatures. Sprouse said in a press statement:

“The media surrounding this story reached the point where it took away from the actual work, and that’s something I wasn’t comfortable with. My relationship with DC Comics remains as strong as ever, and I look forward to my next project with them.” [EW]

Russia Gets A Lesbian Magazine, Despite Potential ‘Propaganda Ban’: In a country where homophobia runs rampant, a lesbian magazine titled Agens has just launched. The zine is pegged “the only printed, glossy publication for lesbians in the country” and its first 120-page issue features coming-out stories, photo essays, and more. Editor-in-chief Milena Chernyavska explained to RIA Novosti:

“The LGBT community has to deal with an information blackout. Russian gay men and lesbians don’t know each other and think that they cannot be happy, because everyone around them abuses them.” [SheWired]
