The Magnet Book Club, in partnership between A Different Light bookstore and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, aims to create a safe space and literary community in the Castro.

Last month month the group read Patti Smith’s acclaimed memoir, Just Kids. The discussion was documented in this photo diary by Gabriel Gastelum.

February the group reads Lambda Literary Award finalist Salvation Army by Abdellah Taia. Details here.

For March they’ve chosen, Lambda Literary Award winner (in the same category!) Lake Overturn by Vestal McIntyre.  April’s selection is Lee Houck’s debut, Yield.
