Exploring the reality behind Tomas Mournian’s novel ‘hidden’

Journalist and novelist Tomas Mournian was commissioned by popstar George Michael to make this video about homeless gay youth living in Underground Railroad-like safe houses across the US.

The safe houses, shown in the short film, (which was shown at HRC’s “Equality Rocks” music tour) are now the main subject of Mournian’s novel hidden (Kensington). [Read the review]

Mournian, was most-recently interviewed by Frank J. Miles for Mary Literary about how LGBT teens who escape from boot camps “are running from larger systems of torture not unlike what’s perpetrated upon queer middle easterners in post-invasion Iraq.”
