Alison Bechdel, author of the celebrated Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic, and the Alice B. Reader's Appreciation Awards have joined forces to create an extraordinary raffle to raise money for the Lambda Literary Awards, and the Foundation's upcoming Writers Retreat.
Fun Home was named #1 Best Book of the Year by Time Magazine. Also listed as best in Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, The Advocate, Out, People, Salon.com, Time Out New York, LA Times, San Francisco Chronicle, among others.
The Fun Home Triptych, featuring original artwork from page 98,will be on display during the 19th Annual Lambda Literary Awards Ceremony, on Thursday, May 31, in New York City.
The framed item includes three elements: "My black and white line art, with no text. My ink wash shading. And then an inkjet print of the final printed page," according to Bechdel, who has autographed the pen and ink drawing, the middle piece of the triptych.
The drawing will be held at the Lambda Literary Awards at approximately at 10:00 pm, and if not present, the winner will be contacted Friday morning.
The Alice B. Reader's Appreciation Award has donated the framing of the triptych, as well as its transportation to the awards ceremony and to the raffle winner.
NOTE: Ticket buyers do not have to present to win (last year's winner of an Olivia Cruise was in Massachusetts at the time of the drawing).
NOTE TO MEN: This would make a wonderful gift for any lesbian in your life: your mother, your sister, your best gal friend, your dentist, your lawyer, your accountant, your co-parent, your surrogate, your boss (you get the idea).
