A reading and conversation with Emma Donoghue and Ruth Rendell at the 92nd Street Y.

Emma Donoghue’s latest novel, a murder mystery set in nineteenth-century San Francisco, is Frog Music. “Like and unlike her stunning Room, this novel lifts into view a strange crime, a remarkable woman, and is a Ringling Brothers-grade feat of narrative strength,” wrote Darin Strauss.

Ruth Rendell’s new novel, a thriller sparked by the discovery of bones in a tin box, is The Girl Next Door. She is “the most brilliant mystery novelist of our time,” wrote Patricia Cornwell. “Her stories are a lesson in a human nature as capable of the most exotic love as it is of the cruelest murder. She does not avert her gaze and magnificently triumphs in a style that is uniquely hers and mesmerizing.”
