On February 1st, 2012, the San Francisco-based Magnet Book Club hosted literary wunderkid (and 2007 LLF Fellow) Justin Torres. Forty people gathered to listen to Torres, author of the NYTimes best-selling We Are Animals, discuss embracing the labels “queer writer” and “Latino writer”. Facilitator Oscar Raymundo reported that during the 40 person discussion, Torres felt comfortable enough to admit that his father actually hated the book.

More excellent discussions are to follow: Tuesday, February 28th, author Kemble Scott will discuss National Lambda Award for Debut Fiction Finalist SoMa. Monday, March 26, K.M. Soehnlien will discuss Lambda Award nominated The World of Normal Boys.
